100% Working Wii Emulator

A number of our visitors have sent us emails to various sources stating that the creators have working Wii Emulators. We’d like to thank all of you for the time you have taken to send us these tips!

So, are they real?

As with most things when something sounds too good to be true it probably is. A claim that there exists a 100% working Wii Emulator, seemingly out of nowhere, when there is no fully working GameCube Emulator yet definitely sounds too good to be real. Especially when the person who claims to have created it has no known background in the emulation scene.

Video of “Working” Wii Emulator

Most of the “Emulators” we have seen look like (PIP) Picture in Picture or TV tuner cards running a real Nintendo Wii. One such example came from reader Ben, who sent us a link to a video on youtube, of a Wii Emulator. The video shows the Wiimote working menus and games on the computer.

Video Analysis

If you take a closer look you’ll notice that in the video the windows XP theme is set to the old windows 98 style but curiously the Wii Emulator window frame seems to be a blue color and has no header. This suggests that either the emulator was created to look like that or the more logical answer is that the Emulator is just a Wii hooked up to a pc monitor running PIP (Picture In Picture). We were further inclined to disbelieve the emulator when we posted a comment to the video which was soon after deleted.

Final Verdict

With that said we wont deny any of the stories out there but rather we’ll let you be the judge.

If it’s connected to the TV somehow, then how do you explain that his Wii is plugged out?

  2. alfatreze:

well, it wouldn’t be hard to plug another wii to it would it now! Plus if there isn’t even a fully working GC emulator, how would we now suddenly have a wii one. It would have been credible if it at least stuttered and had glitches. But perfect emulation, absolutely no way, never happend before and never will

He also shows his Wii at the end I to could go round to a m8s house and borrow his console.

alfatreze though this is video is fake you mention no emulator has been out before that was perfect. Don’t you remember UltraHLE, Zelda and Mario64 (what is designed for) both works perfect so it can be done just in that case it hasn’t been done.

    Comment — October 16, 2007 @ 12:34 am

  13. Knux Kitsune:

But, don’t you remember how long it took for UltraHLE to run smoothly. Shoot, Project 64, the most compatible N64 emulator out still has no support for a lot of games, and still shows graphical glitches. The one GC emulator that I know about, Dolphin, runs, but at a very low framerate and doesn’t support but a handful of games. I call shinanigans on this wii emu. Let’s put this to rest…

That’s definitely one Wii Console connected to a Dell Flat screen, by the size it seems that is one Dell 2405FPW(this screen has several input options to connect different devices). And the thin blue line around the window that’s displaying the Wii game is the same line that the screen uses to differentiate the PIP mode.

    FAKE 100%

Post Exe or it didn’t happen.

I can make a cool video like this as well. All I need is a video input device like a capture card and some tv tuner software or other WDM driver application.

My Wii as well as a buddy’s Wii or if I have 2 it’ll be easier.

And viola. ohhhhh notice my Wii isn’t hooked up? But my BUDDIES IS!!! BUUHAHAHAA.

Seriously, This poor attention hawg just realized what he can actually do with his bundled video card software and is playing a boring prank. Kudo’s for being less than original.

Ok, i know this vid is real. PIP wouldn’t react so fast. It would make the mouse seem like it is jumping. Plus wait, I’m asking the guy for the emu.

    Comment — October 23, 2007 @ 2:20 pm

  17. XL-Sonic:

Oh, and there is certain extensions to the pc that allow you to plug it in (via usb.) And it is possible that he somehow got it because he was related to the guy that helped make the Wii. They have fully working emulators. If hackers knew this, they would get it faster.

  18. Jey:

That a fake, i use a tv tuner on my computer to play wii on my 27″ flat display, and there is absolutly no delay (you need a good tuner, not those junk you get at the source)

using the wii remote on the computer is quite easy all you need is http://www.wiiprojects.org/bluetooth.html.
But yet, the wiimote speaker isnt usable, while in the video, we clearly hear the remote speaker.

This could be true (god know i would love that), but that not, that nothing more than what anyone can do with a wii, a good tv tuner and a computer to serve as a link.

Actually they do have a gamecube emulator that runs at full speed. If you run the 64-bit version of dolphin on a dual-core 64-bit system.
though this would still be better than dolphin, which still has many glitches.

mmm well if thats the debug window on the left why is it not moving when wii cd loading or iso should i say. also as stated b4 never has and emu been perfect so soon i mean not even a jitter or glitch come on even some1 with a pc bought from pc world could fake this one. not hard TV card with composit in easy why do these kids get so exsited over sommit like this…..spend a few more years moochin round the emu seane and u might get the idea. or atleast get some idea what it takes to program an emulator even for simple machines its a feat unless you have all the technical details of all the componants of what your trying to emulate…so my judgment is FAKE but could be proven rong but will take more than a crummy vid to convince me. It will take a beta and a play with it untill then there ent no wii emu and wont be for a while yet….unless nintendo are kind to us LOL yeah right.

    Hi,

No offence to you guys, but before I got to this article I actually found a Russian website that was supposed to be the website of the author for a Wii emulator (I think it’s the emulator in question) anyhow he has a source code available for this emulator however he declared on his website in Russian I quota “I have managed to get the Wii emulated on my pc, it is currently only able to play WarioWare as this game uses graphic that a game boy Advance is capable of, this emulator is still is the Bata testing by me, I still need to prefect it or at lest get it to run a few more games by implementing more parts of the “Core translator”, this project has proven somewhat difficult however rest assured that I will get this emulator out soon, maybe I can get it out for Christmas it depends I really can use some help from the creator of Dolwin however I doubt he can understand what I am saying so please if any one can translate this to English and post it to him and in the end if he agrees to help then please can you continue to help us communicate thank you I have added the source code for this emulator up-to-date to what I have managed to emulate so fare, please if any one are willing to help you are welcome.” (Translated from Russian to English by me bob)

    The website is: http://www.wiimulator/doc.php/wii/.ru

The source code is available under the download section I think it is done in C however I haven’t a clue to programming so not sure.

Come on guys, why does it have to be so intricate and complificated? TV Tuners and Avermedias and Dell Flatpanels and Friends Wii’s and so on….
Get ANY 27in or greater LCD Television, plug your PC in on DSUB (VGA) or HDMI and the Wii on component. Press the PIP button on the remote and voila!! a working Wii “Emulator”… Why is it dark? Because the Wii Sensor bar is on top of the TV and is connected to HIS WII!!!!

Ok this video may be fake and i think it is a huge 100% fake but it is incredibly easy to get a wiimote to work on your computer and i read some where that the speakers arnt supported …. yup they are google GlovePie if your comp has bluetooth then its really easy ive played half life 2 and avp2 with it.

This guy obviously has another Wii plugged in and that monitor…well id love one of those things they look awsome.

And as for Bob hes just advirtising a scam site there is no working Wii emu and if they were youd need one hell of a comp for it to run smooth i mean its no PS3 but if a GC emu doesnt run smooth your boned so if your looking for a wii emu then your gona need one hell of a computer (with bluetooth) and alot of patience 2 things i dont have :)

    An obvious fake

    1. Hidden windows title bar
    2. IRC black window isnt fooling anyone (well it is sadly!)
    3. Perfect Emulation
    4. Perfect Sound
    5. If it was real it would have been posted not videoed.
    6. A video is easier to do using your PC, any developer would do that, but then again any developer would have a website and release it.
    7. Youve worked hard on your emulation, worked hard to code the GUI, so why start the video from a game thats already running, theres no loading of the rom/game its just “on”
    8. Its not even a good fake because its so obvious! Not even taken the time to do a custom title bar! Just hidden it! good grief!

Another one. This time, it’s quite doubtful if it’s fake or real. Search on youtube for “wii emulator”. The name is “Wii emulator” and on the end there’s a spanish Y-like character (can’t find it on my keyboard even using special characters). It’s 7 minutes long and we see the guy inserting a Cod3 Wii into his PC and playing it. After that, he takes it out and inserts a Mario Galaxy. There’s also an e-mail address for asking for the emu. I dunno if it’s real or fake, as I seen it, he has an Uber-Pc and yet the emu lags sometimes. There are a few glitches too (maybe from the recording software, not sure yet). Well, that’s all.

Hey there. I am a decent gamer who is in search of some gaming info and files. Do you know if there are any real emulators and ROMs for the Nintendo Wii that I can download online? I don;’t have a Wii right now but I would appreciate it if you can direct me to your site, any site or p2p network that I can get the files from. I have seen hints of those stuff for a few weeks now but I don’t know if they are true as they are sometimes vague. It has happened a while back with older consoles. I have checked a few sites but I would appreciate it if you could lead me to a place that doesn’t have false links or fake websites and webrings. I just want the games in the form of ROMs or whatever they are called if the name of such stuff has changed. Does bittorrent have real Wii games and emulators that I can get and if so which site would be appropriate. I know some of the best games are not out as yet but the console is well over a year now and I would expect that emulators and ROMs/games would be out by now. If you know any place where I should go just let me know. Are these games available as yet for emulation play of the Wii on a PC? Maybe Super Smash Brawl, Paper Mario, etc? I do have a good graphics card and so do some of my good friends so gameplay will be good. We also have a lot of RAM. Didn’t the N64 and Gamecube ROMs hit the net a short while after the game was available for the public? Such games available for the DS, PS2, N64 were leaked just after debut. Size of the files are not a problem, I just want to be able to download it reliably and play it with a good emulator. If you know where to go to get the files from any site that is not fake and doesn’t link you to every other site in the world on a wild goose chase. Please respond. Really want the Wii games.

    Thank you.

The only thing “quite” possible is ripping an ISO and read out the contents and emulate this like Dolphin should (but with memory decrypted)… HOAX HOAX HOAX, this is just PIP.

No problem at all, dxbz, this pest Tizen doesn’t even deserve to waste storage space for him. The other thing I have to say (I can’t post it as news, the posting isn’t working), that we’re one step closer to the REAL Wii emulation. It is now possible to open wii disc contents and to view them. They use the SAME method as the GC. I am confident that a WiiEmu will eventually grow out from a GC emu just like No$GBA did (the Wii is compared to a GC, as a DS is compared to the GBA). Nintendo made the same mistake twice and I hope it gets used out very soon…

  74. proof it's not real:

in the start screen of wario ware smooth moves, the wiimote would move a shape across the fan if he were using a wiimote

he played a video of himself playing games on his computer and held a wii-mote to it

    Comment — March 11, 2008 @ 11:54 am

  75. Caleb Moorehead:

Well the wii remote wouldnt move without a reciever. You have to realize not only does the wii remote send wireless feedback, the wii has a built in reciever built in to track that feedback and thus movement with the wii remote. If he did it on the computer he would need the wii reciever from the wii.

This is fake; the wii remote cannot work with a PC; nor will it ever (Nintendo and Microsoft are competitors for gaming platforms). It’s probably just a capture card to the computer (people use them all the time for machinima) and the wii is somewhere where you can’t see it. Definitely a fake.

They just look. Damn I hope I’m dead before you lot are running the world cos you will destroy it. Probably before an emulator is released as Nintendo have tight non disclosure contracts with the emulator required by the programmers (yes there is an emulator released by Nintendo for licensed folk, go search on google and read - Oops I forgot, you don’t) - You didn’t think that programmers used the wii to actually program the games on did you????

Aside the fact that i agree on the fact that it’s a flat screen TV with PIP function and a VGA connector (I own a Medion FLat Screen HDTV that has a VGA connector, but no PIP unfortunately) and the mere fact that the Wiimote holding hand on the video covers the side of the screen that should allow you to see the part of the systray that must show where the program is, I would like to point out to look on the tags of that video, noticing how the author simply played a prank.

I think the worse example of fake is another video I saw is the Wii Emulator that a guy called ddrmaxman allegedly created, were you can’t even see the Wiimote actually in action, complains about the fact that people asked him for informations and he refused, closed the comments to the video and yet the tags of the video are made to attract anyone who (?) looks for porn on Youtube (lawl).

i believe there is no wii emmy for pc yet, but having a wiimote work on pc is very possible. First fo all, if a pc supports or has an IR port (infrared) than the possibility of having the wiimote work is possible, since the wiimote alos uses infrared.

    hope that makes sense >.>

  126. Jinx:

I very well doubt this is real, for one, it’s going to take a lot of work to even mimic the hardware of a Wii, then Wii’s OS.

Also I could use a TV card, record my game play and viola, a fake video of me playing a Wii game and look, no cables.

A video is no proof of an Emulators existence, just look at IGN’s fake Zelda movie trailer for April fools. The only proof is a finished product.

No offense but anyone can say “I have an emulator”, I have an Emulator, see, I can do it too.

So even if its in development, keep it to yourself until its ready, otherwise you get people frustrated and theres a chance you might not be able to finish it.

An Emulator that can emulate one game isn’t going to satisfy everyone anyway.

  129. Piki:

I’m not saying this video is real (infact, i say it’s fake).

But FYI, the “Sensor Bar” is really just two shining IR diodes, the same diodes that are in your TV remote. You can check it out yourself by looking at the Sensor Bar through your phone’s camera (or any other digital camera) and then trying to do the same with the TV remote while holding a button on it.

    having read some of the comments i just couldn’t resist posting a reply [;
there’s no way that it works as stated in the video, imo. one should buy wiimote, and sensor bar which would be 1/3 of a wii cost anyway (and nunchuck, if applicable).
besides - wii itself provides loads of fun and it’s worth its price.
someone said something about tv remote working the same way as wiimote. first of all, sensor bar receives IR data and basing on angles (sensor bar has two receivers) wii calculates position of a pointer (similar to how gps system works). i’m not saying it’s so damn hard to code such thing since i’ve done more advanced projects.
what i mean is that to play a wii game on an emulator you need a wii equipment anyway and it’s cheaper to simply get a wii system itself ;)
oh, and the video looks like a scam too. wondering why the lights are off, why irc client is on (hacker-like environment), why it looks exactly as PIP on mine external tv-tuner connected to a samsung lcd monitor ;)
wii is cool anyway, so get the system and forget about the emulators. it’s not so damn expensive too ;)

It´s just a TV Tuner (or video capture device if you must be picky) with Windows Media Center. Windows Media Center has a blue frame when in windowed mode. As well, it has no title bar or other aesthetics.

As far as the disconnected wii; There is really no reason to take this into account since it’s completely irrelevant since anybody can have 2 wiis. I do believe this would be a red herring type of propaganda.

I love how it’s ENTIRELY PITCH BLACK during the filming of this emulator. I mean– if the creator of this so called Wii emulator would I dunno…TURN A LIGHT ON and let us view the entire thing for ourselves, we would stop “hating” of their so called creation. Like everyone else has already stated, there is always the possibility that this Wii that is shown not plugged up could be a separate Wii and one really is plugged in. If this person is telling the truth, which seems HIGHLY unlikely, they should:

    1. Turn a light on during this filming so we can see what’s going on
    2. Film from the very beginning of the emulation. Show us that you are opening a .exe file or SOMETHING so we know that you are starting an emulation.
    3. Show your PC. Lemme see your PC because I’m a nerd and also let us see that there is nothing out of the ordinary connect to your PC.

I mean–Don’t be so sketchy over your own creation…But I agree with everyone else. This seems to sketchy to be real. Like I’ve always been told.

If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

It’s fake, the program next to him is just useless and just for the show.
the other screen (witch displays the game)
is just a output of a tv capture card, hooked up the wii,
if you can’t see the wii, then likly he has build his wii inside his pc,
and then hooked it up on his tv tuner card,
this building in is even possiable with a notebook/laptop.

lol first off i would like to say yeah its fake it would take alot of dev and programming to come up with a good emu , however if you worked at it enough you could get a full working ps3 emu for pc , have you ever compared ps3 specs to those of a good gaming computer ? a good gaming pc could run circles around a ps3 … easy so wii should be no challange , the challange is programming it … thats what makes it a chore…

This is so obviously fake that if anybody believes that that this emulator is real is just not paying attention at all. Basically all you need to do is look at the date of the post of this thing. This was posted over a year ago. So basically since then we’ve not seen a Wii emulator that you can download anywhere. Anybody who is going to spend that much time on programing an emulator is going to find a way to leek it to the web. This isn’t available therefor it’s a fake. It’s a simple as that.

Everyone who thinks this is real just answer one question. How do you get a Wiimote to work with a PC with no way to communicate with it and no place to plug in the light bar? Another good question would be how do you get the PC to read the Wii discs when the Wii spins the discs backwards as part of it’s copy protection? I have yet to see a bi-directional DVD drive for PC. This is 100% fake.

N64 emulation isn’t perfect yet this is obviously fake. Wiimote can be connected to windows pc and used as mouse or for games, with Bluetooth adaptor and program called glovepie.
As for the wii “sensor” bar it doesn’t sense a thing it contains 4 infrared LEDs and the wiimote does the sensing and detects the light from these and bluetooths data to wii/pc to tell where wiimote is pointed on screen. So the “sensor” bar can mimiced using LEDs or even fork handles, ahem, four candles positioned on top of your screen.
Don’t believe me then unplug sensor bar from wii put four candles on top of your telly, light, and it will work perfectly. Thanks

Connecting the Wiimote to the computer is done with bluetooth. I have done some software myself with the Mac OSX Bluetooth SDK. It’s very easy. However, you still need the light sensor for precision - else, you CANNOT move the thing with precision - the only way to move the mouse is by tilting it - veeeery jerky…

But this video is obviously fake because no one with enough coding skills would waste them on a closet project. It would be either open source or commercial - too many man-hours for uh… nothing to show off??? Well… yeah…

  190. Troy:

The sensor bar wouldn’t be a problem. It really *is* just an IR transmitter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdxJt9UNqxE explains how to make your own wireless sensor bar with just a few parts from Radio Shack. You probably could even unplug the sensor bar from the Wii, hook a battery up to it, and use it, assuming you know what voltage and amperage to use for the power. I wouldn’t recommend it, though. Building one from scratch wouldn’t be much harder and you wouldn’t destroy your sensor bar.

The controllers wouldn’t be a problem. I’ve used a Wiimote on my PC many times. It’s just Bluetooth. In fact, I’ve gotten the guitar controller working for Frets on Fire.

The discs wouldn’t be a problem. You’d just have to use ISOs instead of real discs. Even if you wanted to use real discs, it should be possible. How else do people get ISO rips of the discs?

That being said, this particular emulator is about as fake as they come. Go to the video on Youtube. Show all comments. Show the comments marked as spam. You’ll see a comment from the guy who posted the video that admits it’s fake. Just look at the tags.

I know a way to get a REAL emulator to work! make the mouse as the Wii remote, left click as A and right click as B. if you move the mouse closer to you, the hand symbol goes down, etc. this would be a way to play a wii emulator and still play games like wii sports. only crappily. I would suggest playing games like smash bros.unfortunately you wouldn’t be able to do tilt unles you swapped it for left/right control. this would enable you to play games like mario kart. but that’s the best I got. good luck. brag EVERYWHERE on the internet when you finally make it work and downloadable. that way i can get 1.

it would take me about 30-40 minutes to finely tune the script to play any pc game with my wiimote and nanckuk. pcs games are great compared to the graphics in the wii

Since most videogame emulators out there are very choppy and unreliable and take years to come even any close to the console being emulated, how can a wii be emulated if even n64 emulators still have flaws? Honestly by the time there is even a possibility of a mediocre wii emulator there will be next generation consoles that will make the wii as outdated as the snes is now. I however have a solution for this wii dilemma!!!? Save a couple hundred bucks, or borrow of mommy or daddy, or even use a small fraction of the money saved for a videocard, and buy a used wii of ebay or someone selling one in the paper!

People are able to save thousands of dollars for the latest hitech pc equipment to play emulators yet cant seem to afford a few hundred dollars for a console and games. UNBELIEVABLE

He claims to be a noob programmer, and although i am not qualified to judge, he is most definately not that. He deserves a large piece of cake or food item of his choice on a daily basis. I now sound like i am worshipping him, and that is probably the case. Still, he (on his own mind oyu) crafted a emulator that works near perfectly if a little hazardous to set up. On a strikingly related topic: If you worked for a company that alloted you a budget of $800,000 United States Dollars (574 thousand euros, 486 thousand british pounds, 77 million japanese yen, or 10 million mexican pesos) to emulate the wii in MS Windows would you do it?

How would you arrange to have the emulator made? Just hire some software engineers?

According to the US department of labor (bureau of labor statistics) the anual median salary of a software engineer is $79,000 in United States Dollars. The more expensive softwared engineers are over $100,000 yearly. So, with 2 or 3 good men thats a big chunk of your budget…

With that budget the application should be able to be done in Assembly code.

Do you guys think the company would get it’s $800G’s back if the emulator sold for $52 united states dollars at Best Buy/your local computer store?

I think alot of windows folks would buy it to save the cost of buying a wii to alternatively buy some of the wii games they’ve been wishing they could play.

    Yup, definitely IRC.

Emulation for the Wii is possible, but this is definitely a fake. If we did emulate, it would not require any BIOS patches or anything. It could possibly be done with QEMU if an emulator for that chip is created + interfaces for all of the devices. Then the software could be ripped off of an actual Wii and run.

Anyway, this one is a fake, but don’t give up hope.

This could easily be a ATI all in wonder video card with the wii hooked up to the compisite or S-Video inputs. I used to do this with my Xbox 360 all the time to show Video profiles instead of Images of my Create a Wrestlers in Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 it had a blue outline and blank header with 0 framerate issues on a moderate PC. However I have been working on a Wii emulator and using Dolphin as my source code. Its only capable of playing for about 10 minutes and even then its so laggy its unbearable and its only capable of running at about 10fps. And the only game I can get it to work on is Zelda Twilight Princess. And even then it only works on my system when I have it running in safemode. So this is definately a fake video.

.. 1. PS2 emulation is nowhere near perfection as someone stated. That’s an ignorant statement.

    2. There’s no way that you can profit from a wii emulator in a consumer market. No way the law will allow you to steal intellectual property (from Nintendo) and sell it.

Wiimote can be used with this emulator on PC too … like a wireless sensor bar etc…
Naturally, like original Wii, its play GameCube games too.

Well, it’s not too good to be true. The fact is, there does exist a 100% working Wii emulator. That is the emulator supplied with the Revolution development kits sent to Nintendo licensed developers. Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely you will get your hands on this Wii emulator because it has not been leaked and there are strict non-disclosure statements in Nintendo contracts.

its possible tHE wii was previously hooked up to the pc and the game was played and recorded with a program like hypercam and then later edited with another program because watch the video closely and the action being used on the remote are NOT exactly the same as the actions shown on the screen plus if it is a fully working emulator y isnt it already on the net?

    and latest release is here:

i must say that i last year had a wii emulator on my PC with windows,
bad enough, my videocard and my CPU where to slow to smootly give me the goodies.

anyway, i tested it and it didn’t work with the wii-remote, but with youre mouse and keyboard!
when i loaded a bomberman iso in the proggram, he worked fine.. but slow
    so i deleted it.

anyway, i tryed to remeber the name of the emu, but i cant remeber..
i thought it was something from dolpin what Aldinho also said.

I think that maybe on the newer CPU’s this emu can run without struggling.

I would not doubt if this video was indeed, a fake. However, there is a working wii emulator. Me and a friend of mine downloaded it about a week or so ago, along with a gamecube, DS, and a few others. The gamecube and wii emulators work surprisingly well, of course, they run a little slow and glitchy at first, but it is nothing that can’t be fixed with a little tweaking. Which is extremely easy to do. This wii “emulator” that is being shown in the video however, definitely is a fake, considering how no one has made the proper equipment to hook a wii controller up to be able to use it on a computer. One would have to get the usb to hook up a gamecube controller, or get the logitech dual action controller made strictly for the computer that is compatible with all computer games and emulators, like I have.

The kid is obviously bullshitting. You notice how he prepared in advance to be called a liar, why else would he have shown his wii afterall. Secondly, you would have to be using a mouse to control because there is no way to plug the sensor bar into a computer and get it to work. You can use your wii controller via bluetooth, but the sensor part doesn’t work. The buttons and the accelerometer work though. Anyway it’s obviously fake. The biggest thing for me….. I don’t understand why someone would lie and fake anything so trivial. Is it really that worth the amount of time it takes just to get a few gullable people to waste a half hour of their lives trying to find a real emulator? This is so very sad, so sad.
