I am thinking possibly the email envelope seems to work on a user by user basis. I've been trying to figure out why the taskbar icon wasn't changing. If you have a link or something I'd be curious to see. When someone gets back from lunch break, if they see a RED New Mail Icon, they know they need to check their mail immediately.

If outlook is open, doesn't it have a user configurable time on how often to check all the accounts? Win7 Ultimate 64 bit with Exchange 2007 I added the icon to the taskbar manually, since it did not add itself automatically upon installation.

They need to fix this bug and I hope they put a color or an icon that's clearly visible that there is a new email. Let us know if this work ! This is what some many people want. I unpinned all apps from the task bar, so only having notifications on the large icon of the pinned app does nothing for me.

Office 2010 rtm is available since april 24 on technet ;) I have the same issue with my imap account with rtm version. In Outlook 2007 these 2 data filesappear to belinked and placed deep within the AppData folder that is hidden. The folders you setup along with rules to have like you say facebook emails going to the facebook folder will not show desktop/email alerts as it only works for email hitting

- This is the kind of obvious idea which Apple would take out a patent on along with their silly multi-touch patents which should have all gotten Prior Art status.

- There are a couple other issues I'll mention here just for completeness. 1.
- Notifications were turned on in the Mail app itself… …but after further investigation, the Mail app didn't even exist in the list of apps in Settings – System – Notifications &
I just did this and it worked. But for this little feature I don't want to pay extra money. I have ensured notifications are enabled in the Menu Bar > Tools > Options. Of course, Mail Alert from Bettasoft works fine and 7$ seems to be not much money.
What Microsoft did tell me was that due to the amount of customer enquiries on the email alerts the developement team will be working towards a Service Pack to fix the The dialog doesn’t fade in and out, nor does it offer the ability to open or delete the message as Outlook’s notification dialog does. I don't know if you guys have also noticed that if you have folders in your IMAP email, it won't tell you that you got a new email when you have
