Some of the online advice I'm getting suggests fixes involving reinstalling USB controllers from the Device Manager. Did you install any new hardware or software around the time it stopped working? Was hoping that maybe repair or complete re-installation may fix it, but apparently, it won't because the USB mouse still doesn't work in Windows installation wizard.
