changing the mouse-settings in .vmx on VMware WS (mouse.vusb.enable, ...) , changing the input-settings on VMware/VirtualBox, reinstall guest tools on guest OS, ... The solution is to go into the VMWare preferences and turn off "ungrab on guest exit" mouse option. I found the following is workaround. $ sudo -E startx But, this workaround have a lot of problems.
