Today when I went into the basement, there was substantial water draining out of a long plastic tube leading from the hot water heater. Thank you! With the water to the house on, and water to the water heater shut off, I still get the sound of rushing water. It was factory set at 124 F. Do I need to completely drain the hot water heater? The plumbing had been crossed. If you have an expansion tank it may have failed.
- Turn off main.
- I have never had an issue, a leak or any issue with it prior.
- Should I call a plumber to have it checked?
- Im not sure how old it is.
- I checked and the water is not hot.
- It must terminate 6"-12" above the floor, and the end cannot be threaded or have a fitting which permits connecting a plug or cap.
- I never deflated the bladder pressure on this one.

kenny 3 YEARS AGO I replaced a leaking compression fitting valve and a faucet in an apartment and the next day the t&p valve gave out and will not hold pressure. smith. Is there a way to add air to the expansion tank? We just replaced a 19 year old water heater that dripped just a bit from the relief valve. check over here If the leak is coming from the threads around the pressure relief valve, then you need to use the proper thread sealant or tape when installing the valve.
The T&P valve was running and the drip was unabsorbed water by the insulation blanket. And don't test it at 10 PM on a Saturday night. :-) These valves are cheap and there's only one problem replacing them -- sometimes they're hard to unscrew. Is this a hjeater going bad or is there a fix for the issues mentioned. Pressure Most T&P valves are set to open at 150 psi.
